Let’s Connect the Chain!

FB4K Madison’s program works like this:

September – March: We collect and repair donated bikes. In the fall we have numerous bike donation stations. In December-February, bikes need to be dropped off at our workshop.

April-May: We hold bike giveaways on Saturdays. We give bikes away through our nonprofit and school partners. Our bike giveaways are not open to the public because we want to ensure that those most in need are receiving bikes or that they are going to diverse communities who have had historically had fewer opportunities to enjoy biking. We can’t give bikes to individuals unfortunately. If you’d like a bike, you need to contact a nonprofit partner or your child’s school. They will let you know if they are participating. We don’t have the capacity to go and pick up one or two bicycles. We do work with a volunteer, The Bike Mobile, if you have 10+ bikes to donate. You can email us if that is your situation and we will arrange a pickup.

June – August: At this time, our operations are limited until September. We spend this time fundraising, planning for the next giveaway, hosting pop up safety checks in area parks and on bike trails, and searching for our next workshop location. We are hoping to change this by finding our forever home that will allow us to be more sustainable and efficient by not having to move every year.

We will do our best to get back to you with any info you need, but here are some answers to some of the most popular questions.

Have a bike to donate?

Our donation season is September through February. If you can, please hold onto your donation until our collection events begin in September that is SO helpful. Or, you can drop them at our shop in East Towne Mall on Mondays or Wednesdays between 10-3pm. Drive up to Dick’s then roll around to the left of their entrance, head into the alley and our door is 308 and will be on your right. If no one is there when you are, just leave them by the door.

OR — we are looking for a local partner that is able to receive and store bikes for the program from August-December each year. If you know of someone that could handle this, we’d love to talk. Please connect us at info@fb4kmadison.org

Want to receive a bike?

Sorry, but we don’t give bikes to individuals. We only give through our community partners during our giveaway events in April and May. Please encourage any organizations you may think could benefit from receiving bikes to apply to become a partner for our giveaway season in the spring.

Want to volunteer?

We will need all the help we can get during our bike repair season December through May. We also need volunteers to help us give bikes away in April and May. Please follow us on Facebook or check back in December to see what’s going on. To sign up for our mailing list, scroll to the bottom of this website and add your email address so you get our calls for volunteers. This is the BEST way to stay up to date with FB4K news.
