Free Bikes 4 Kidz Madison’s Bike Donation Drive in Minocqua to Benefit Lac du Flambeau Tribe
Minocqua, WI – Free Bikes 4 Kidz Madison is gearing up for its first bike donation drive in Minocqua, Wisconsin. This drive takes on a special significance as it aims to provide 50 bikes to the Lac du Flambeau Band of Chippewa (Ojibwe) in northern Wisconsin.
Date and Location:
- Dates: September 16-17, 2023
- Location: Minocqua Brewing Company, 329 Front Street, Minocqua, WI 54548
Bicycles of all sizes and styles are welcomed as donations during the following hours:
- Saturday, September 16: 11:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.
- Sunday, September 17: 10:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M.
These bikes will then be transported back to Dane County, where they will undergo a complete refurbishment and tuning. Following this process, they will be distributed to the
Lac du Flambeau Tribe.
Executive Director Kristie GoForth, a member of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa (Ojibwe), expressed her deep commitment to this initiative, saying, “Tribes were hit so hard during the pandemic, and they have significant needs. As a Native woman, being in a position to help my tribal sisters and brothers in a meaningful way is an incredible feeling. I also feel like it’s my obligation to do what I can to help.”
This bike donation drive aligns with Free Bikes 4 Kidz Madison’s mission to provide every child with the opportunity to own a bike, regardless of their financial situation. It also reflects the organization’s dedication to supporting marginalized communities, particularly during challenging times.
