Summer is in full swing and we hope you’re making the most of it! We have some upcoming events and ways you stay engaged with FB4K this summer. Details are listed below.
Pop Up Bike Safety Checks – Friday, August 19, 10-2pm
Free Bikes 4 Kidz Madison will be hosting bike safety checks and helmet fittings on the Cannonball Trail where it starts on Fish Hatchery Road near the Town of Madison Municipal Building. Stop by if you need something checked out or diagnosed. We can do minor fixes like pumping tires, handlebar adjustments, seat adjustments, or taking those training wheels off. Oh yeah! We’ll be joined by the City of Madison’s Bike and Pedestrian Outreach Coordinator, Colleen Hayes, to help spread the word on bike path etiquette. She’ll be handing out free bells! FB4K will have SWAG too. Feel free to stop by and chat with us about what’s coming up at FB4K. See you on the trail!

Our first annual Free Bikes 4 Kidz Madison Annual Garage Sale on Sat., July 30 from 10-3pm
It’s our 1st Annual Garage Sale Fundraiser! Head to East Towne Mall and enter through Dick’s Sporting Goods to find our workshop space in the mall. Our shop is two stores up on the left once you enter through Dick’s.
You’ll find accessories left over from our bike giveaway season including several bike trailers, a pet trailer, tagalongs, tandem bikes, bike racks, a wide array of parts, bags, mirrors, and more. We’ll also have some vintage classic bikes for sale. Oooh!
If you’d like to donate to our garage sale, we’d welcome your donation! Your donation does not need to be bike related if it’s in good condition. All proceeds will go toward giving away more bikes to those in need in 2023. Send us an email describing your donation and we’ll let you know where you can drop it off.
*Please note, we won’t be selling bikes we give away to historically excluded communities at this sale. Payments accepted will be Paypal, Venmo, Cash, and Check with ID.
Community Gathering at Biergarten event at 4123 Monona Drive on July 15, 5-8pm
We are meeting up a few times this summer to hang out and socialize and stay in touch with our FB4K community. We hope you’ll join us at this event on Friday, July 15. *Please note there is very little parking on site so it’s best to ride a bike or park at Monona Grove high school or at Slow Roll Cycles and walk over. A band and biergarten will be available for purchasing food and drink. Kids very much welcome!
